The Legend of Bamboo Texts
The large-scale cultural program "The Legend of Bamboo Texts", jointly produced by China Central Television and the National Cultural Heritage Administration, will start broadcasting on CCTV-1 at 20:00 on April 23rd. Bamboo texts emerged during the transitional period from bamboo slips to paper books. Using silk as the writing medium, it was a unique recording method of the ancient Chinese people and holds a special position in the history of world culture development. "The Legend of Bamboo Texts" is the first to tell the story from the perspective of bamboo texts, relying on new archaeological research achievements such as the Bullet Repository Chu Bamboo Texts painting unearthed in Changsha, Hunan Province, the Bamboo Texts paintings from the Maoshang Han Tomb, and the Xuanquanzhi Bamboo Text letters unearthed in Gansu Province. It combines relevant historical and academic literature, and adopts a "realistic record + expert interpretation + dance performance + scene recreation" integrated innovation approach to tell the stories behind the family and country, reveal its contribution to Chinese civilization, and lead the audience to appreciate the national wisdom and spiritual core through unique refinement and interpretation.
The "Bullet Chu Book" is the earliest discovered bamboo text and the only bamboo text discovered from the Warring States period. "The Legend of the Bamboo Texts" presents for the first time the complete circulation history and the entire chain of evidence of this text, which has remained unreturned in the United States since it was stolen in 1946, over the past 80 years. It also presents for the first time the concentrated expression of the strong appeal from Chinese and foreign scholars that the United States should return the "Bullet Chu Book" to China as soon as possible. Furthermore, it provides the first comprehensive and in-depth interpretation and vividly presents the rich cultural connotations such as the world origin ideology, time-space concept, and cosmic view of the "Bullet Chu Book".
The program further deepens the creative concept of "thought + art + technology", making full use of new technologies such as virtual reality, 3D digital, and artificial intelligence to create a fully digital production space with real-time transitions of different scenes like "seasonal changes, star gazing, and site restoration". It enables the extraordinary presentation of cultural relics, and precisely and dynamically disassembles the structures and details of cultural relics such as "Four Seasons Rhythm", "Guiding Map", and T-shaped silk paintings, presenting the cultural connotations of the relics in an intuitive and vivid manner.
