China and the United States held economic and trade negotiations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Xinhua News Agency, Kuala Lumpur, October 26th - On October 25th and 26th local time, the Chinese lead negotiator for economic and trade affairs, Vice Premier He Lifeng, and the US lead negotiator, US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin and Trade Representative Gregory, held economic and trade negotiations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Based on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state of the two countries in their recent phone calls, the two sides conducted candid, in-depth and constructive exchanges and consultations on important economic and trade issues of mutual concern, such as the US' Section 301 measures against China's maritime logistics and shipbuilding industry, the extension of the suspension period of reciprocal tariffs, fentanyl tariffs and law enforcement cooperation, agricultural trade, export control, etc. They reached basic consensus on the arrangements to address their respective concerns. Both sides agreed to further determine the specific details and fulfill the domestic approval procedures of each country.
He Lifeng stated that the essence of the China-US economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. Cooperation benefits both sides, while confrontation harms both. Maintaining the stable development of the China-US economic and trade relations is in the fundamental interests of both countries and their people, and also meets the expectations of the international community. Regarding the differences and frictions that arise in economic and trade cooperation, both sides should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, and through equal dialogue and consultation, find appropriate solutions to address each other's concerns. The achievements of the China-US economic and trade consultations were not easily attained and require both sides to jointly uphold. It is hoped that the US side will work with the Chinese side in the same direction, jointly implement the important consensuses reached in the phone calls between the two heads of state and the results of the economic and trade consultations held this year, further build mutual trust, manage differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the bilateral economic and trade relations to continuously reach a higher level.
The US side stated that the US-China economic and trade relationship is the most influential bilateral relationship in the world. The US is willing to resolve differences and enhance cooperation with China through an equal and respectful manner, in order to achieve common development.
Both sides agreed that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, they would fully leverage the role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, maintain close communication on their respective concerns in the economic and trade fields, and promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US economic relations, benefiting the people of both countries and contributing to global prosperity.
