Xinhua News Agency, New York, December 8th - The three major stock indices on the New York Stock Exchange declined on December 8th.
As of the close of trading on that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 215.67 points from the previous trading day, closing at 47,739.32 points, with a decline of 0.45%; the S&P 500 Index fell 23.89 points, closing at 6,846.51 points, with a decline of 0.35%; the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 32.22 points, closing at 23,545.90 points, with a decline of 0.14%.
In terms of sectors, the S&P 500 index saw 11 out of 11 sectors decline while one sector rose. The communication services sector and the materials sector led the decline with drops of 1.77% and 1.66% respectively, while the technology sector rose by 0.93%.
