As of the close of trading on that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 594.79 points compared to the previous trading day, closing at 48,977.18 points, with an increase of 1.23%; the S&P 500 Index increased by 43.58 points, closing at 6,902.05 points, with an increase of 0.64%; the Nasdaq Composite Index rose by 160.19 points, closing at 23,395.82 points, with an increase of 0.69%.
In terms of sectors, the S&P 500 index saw seven out of the eleven sectors rise and four fall. The energy sector and the financial sector led the gains with increases of 2.67% and 2.15% respectively, while the utilities sector and the consumer staples sector led the declines with drops of 1.16% and 0.33% respectively.
