Nigeria holds "Happy Spring Festival" fair and celebrates the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria
Abuja News: The 2026 "Happy Spring Festival" Fair and the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria were held in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, on the 7th.
The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the China Association for Cultural Exchange and the Chinese Wushu Association, and was hosted by the Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria. The Acting Charge-Director of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Zhou Hongyou, the Director-General of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Nigeria, Tagbe, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Wushu Association, as well as government officials, representatives from all walks of life, overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in Nigeria, and diplomatic envoys from various countries in Nigeria, totaling 1,500 people, participated.
Zhou Hongyou stated in his speech that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal, despite changes in the international situation, the two sides have always adhered to mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation, becoming a model of South-South cooperation. 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal and the "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchange". China is willing to work with Nepal to build a high-level community with a shared future, continuously consolidate political trust and mutual support, deeply explore the potential for practical cooperation, enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and pass on the friendship between China and Nepal from generation to generation, so that the cooperation achievements can benefit the people of both countries more.
Tagebe, on behalf of President Niu Tenubu, extended New Year greetings to the Chinese people and reaffirmed that Nigeria firmly adheres to the one-China principle. Over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China, the two countries have always maintained friendly cooperation and their bilateral relations have continuously reached new heights. As the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse approaches, Nigeria is willing to continue to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between Nigeria and China towards a future of deeper cooperation and shared prosperity.
This event is rich in content. The audience had the opportunity to closely observe various types of martial arts demonstrations and enjoy the singing, dancing and musical performances presented by Chinese and Nepalese artists. They also tasted Chinese cuisine and experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese cultures such as tea art, calligraphy and traditional Chinese medicine.
