The 2026 Guangzhou Fair Spring Exhibition Reception held by the Economic Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the China Foreign Trade Center was held at the Mandarin Oriental Ocean View Hotel in Hong Kong on the evening of the 17th. The event aimed to enhance connections with the business community in Hong Kong and deepen cooperation.
Zhou Qiang, the deputy director of the Economic Department and the head of the Trade Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Liaison Office, said in his speech that since its establishment in 1957, the Canton Fair has served as a "barometer" and "indicator" of China's foreign trade. It has always adhered to the concepts of "openness, cooperation and win-win", promoting China's foreign economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Koo Ying-ho, said that the Canton Fair, as an important window for China's opening up to the outside world, has over the years promoted the high-quality development of international trade and made significant contributions to global economic and trade cooperation.
Zhu Yong, the director of the China Foreign Trade Center, said in his speech that in the future, they will promote the two-way empowerment of Hong Kong's traditional trade with emerging fields such as cross-border e-commerce, low-altitude economy, and artificial intelligence, and deeply integrate into the Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong is not only a "super connector", but also a "partner" for the high-quality innovation development of the Greater Bay Area.
During the reception, the China Foreign Trade Center and the Greater Bay Area Low-Cost Economy Alliance signed a global partnership cooperation memorandum, jointly exploring cooperation in emerging fields. It is reported that the 139th Canton Fair is scheduled to open on April 15th, and the 140th Canton Fair is planned to open on October 15th.
