The 15th was the 11th National Security Education Day for the entire nation. The series of activities for national security education jointly organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region government and the Macao Liaison Office of the Central People's Government were inaugurated on that day at the Comprehensive Platform for Business Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Ho Hoi-wah, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Cen Haohui, Director of the Macao Affairs Office of the Central People's Government Zheng Xincong, Deputy Commissioner of the Chinese Embassy in Macao Bian Lixin, and Commander of the PLA Garrison in Macao Chen Wensheng.
Cen Haohui, in his speech, stated that safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests is the highest principle of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, and it is a solid foundation for the economic and social development of the Macao Special Administrative Region. It concerns the fundamental interests of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the immediate interests of Macao residents. The government of the Special Administrative Region will incorporate the practical requirements for maintaining national security into all fields and throughout the entire process of the regional development planning. It will accurately implement the overall concept of national security, continuously improve the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for maintaining national security, enhance security capabilities in various fields and modernization construction, and take practical actions to build a solid barrier for maintaining national security in Macao. With high-level security, it will provide support and guarantee for the steady and long-term development of the "One Country, Two Systems" cause.
Zheng Xincong stated that safeguarding national security is an ongoing process and there is no completion date. We should view the coordinated development and security of Macao from a broad historical perspective, plan it with a sense of great responsibility, and advance it with a grand strategic framework. We hope that the Special Administrative Region government will unite and lead all sectors of society, thoroughly implement the overall national security concept, actively fulfill the constitutional responsibility of safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, comprehensively promote the modernization of the national security system and capabilities, and work together to build a higher-level peaceful Macao.
It is introduced that this series of activities is themed "Coordinating Development and Security to Guide the New Journey of the '15th Five-Year Plan'". It includes activities such as the National Security Education Exhibition for All and the Public Welfare Film Exhibition on National Security. Among them, the National Security Education Exhibition showcases the achievements of the Macao Special Administrative Region, under the leadership of the central government, in accurately grasping the correct direction of "One Country, Two Systems", unwaveringly coordinating development and security, and continuously improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for maintaining national security. It aims to contribute to the opening up and starting of a new journey for the "15th Five-Year Plan" with the strength of Macao. The exhibition will be open to the public for free and will last until May 15th.
After the opening ceremony, the awarding ceremony for the "Artificial Intelligence Protects the Country" essay and short video competition was held. These two events attracted over 32,000 students to participate enthusiastically.
