As of the close of trading on that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 12.19 points compared to the previous trading day, closing at 49,609.16 points, with an increase of 0.02%; the S&P 500 Index rose by 61.82 points, closing at 7,398.93 points, with an increase of 0.84%; the Nasdaq Composite Index rose by 440.88 points, closing at 26,247.08 points, with an increase of 1.71%.
In terms of sectors, the S&P 500 index saw six out of the eleven sectors rise and five fall. The technology sector and the non-essential consumer goods sector led the gains with increases of 2.74% and 0.50% respectively, while the utilities sector and the healthcare sector led the declines with drops of 0.91% and 0.86% respectively.
